Bague Au Firmament

$3,900.00

The “bague au firmament” or “ring of the heavens” was popularized by Marie Antoinette who first wore the blue enamel and diamond night-sky inspired ring. This stunning and incredibly rare antique example is the only one I’ve seen where the diamonds are in the shape of a cross rather than a starry sky. The stones are old mine cut diamonds against blue guilloche enamel. The surround is also OMCs in Georgian silver collet/crimped settings. The ring itself is made of 18 karat yellow gold with a hidden locket beneath the cross containing a lock of salt and pepper hair (making this ring a mourning jewel as well.) US size 6.5 and I do not recommend sizing this piece to preserve its historical integrity. It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
